SECHII-ZUBZA - EMMAUS NOVITIATE
History
After the tragic death of Fr. Raphael Paliakara, Fr. Andreas Kindo and Br. Shinu Varghese, the novitiate at Imphal was discontinued for two years. In 2003 the novitiate was shifted to Emmaus Salesian Novitiate, Sechii-Zubza.
On 10th May 2003, Fr. Pulimmotil Alex was appointed as Director of the Novices and Fr. Thottappally Joseph as the Socius. The first batch of fifteen novices arrived on 19th May 2003 along with the staff. The new building was blessed by Rev. Fr. Joachim D’Souza, the Regional for Australasia.
Today
On 3rd April 2007, through a Decree, the Rector Major has approved the suspension of the Novitiate for one year (2007-2008). It was necessitated as the Pre-novitiate was to begin. In May 2008 the novitiate will resume.
