MARAM - DON BOSCO COLLEGE

 

History
 
Don Bosco College Maram was inaugurated on 23rd July 2000 with the strong support of the general public of the area. It is a private institution which is permanently affiliated to the Manipur university The College is situated on a sequestered hillock by the national highway 39. The College Maram was inaugurated by Dr. L. Chandramani Singh, Dupty Chief Minister of Manipur.
 
In 2000 the college started course in TDC, BA first year, general and honours course with Fr. Jose Palely as the first principal. In 2002 the college began offering class XI and XII arts and commerce. On 1st July 2006 B.Sc. was started with 54 Honours students and 10 General students.
 
The centre also runs a hostel for boys studying in the college. The Vocational training Centre offers courses in welding, carpentry, wood carving, bandloom weaving, fashion designing, wine rearing, food processing, handicrafts, screen printing typing, horticulture and vermin compost.
 
Today
 
Today, there are 1293 students in Don Bosco College Maram. Of these 665 belong to the Degree courses (B.A., B.Com and B.Sc.) and 477 in Higher Secondary (Arts) and 188 in (Commerce). There are 68 in the Staff of which 54 are in the teaching staff. In 2007 there are 109 enrolled in these various departments in the vocational training centre. There are 153 boys in the Don Bosco Hostel.
