WAKRO - DON BOSCO CENTRE
History
In 2005 bifurcating Lohit district, the district of Anjaw was created by the government of Arunachal Pradesh. The district headquarter of Anjaw is at Hawai which is about 300 kms from Tinsukia. It is inhabited mainly by the Miju Mishmis. There are also few Digaru Mishmis villages. To reach out to this group a new centre is established at Wakro, in Lohit district, about 150 kms from Tinsukia, in Assam. Fr. K.P. Paul (ING) was the first to reside there.
Fr. Peedikayil Francis was appointed at Rajanagar with the independent charge to look after the Wakro mission. Two confreres, namely, Fr. Kaippallimyalin Joseph and Fr. Peedikayil Francis are trying to build up this new mission. The centre is at its beginning stages now.
