HANGUATHONG - DON BOSCO SCHOOL

 

History
 
Don Bosco School is located at a distance of 3½ kms from the district headquarter, Khonsa. Don Bosco School and the F.M.A. convent was blessed on 15th June 1998 by Fr. Varghese Palathingal, the Provincial of Dimapur. Fr. Dennis Panipitchai took up residence at the school on 1 July 1998. The F.M.A. sisters also arrived on the same day to occupy the new convent. The school was inaugurated on 3rd July 1998 by Mgr. Joseph Aind sdb, the Bishop of Dibrugarh. The school got affiliated to ICSE in 2001. Since then the school has been doing well. The Salesians run a boarding for the boys and the sisters run a boarding for girls studying in the school.
 
Today
 
Presently the school is a high school. There are 171 students in the school with 11 teachers out of which 112 students and 8 teachers are Catholics. Various tribes such as Nocte, Wancho, Lazu, Mishmi and Singhon attend the school. In 2007 there are 84 boarders in the boy’s boarding.
