History
 
The land at 3rd Mile was acquired from Mr. J.B. Jasokie. It was partly gifted and partly bought. The money settlement was done in 1989. The land had been lying idle for a number of years. In June 2002 the construction of a four small room house was started with the intention of building a new centre for non-formal vocational training. On 14th January 2003, the work of construction started in a small way. The construction of various buildings have been completed in 2006. On 3rd March 2005, Don Bosco Vocational Tranining Centre (DBVTC) was inaugurated by Hekali Zhemomi, the D.C. of Dimapur along with the representative Don Bosco Jugen Drittewelt of Germany.
 
Today
 
In 2007 there over 300 students in the various departments of carpentry, welding, motor mechanics driving, electricity, plumping and organic farming, food processing and animal husbandry.

BORDURIA - DON BOSCO SCHOOL AND PARISH

 

History
 
Don Bosco School and the Parish of Mary Help of Christians, Borduria are located at a Distance of 107 km from Tinsukia and 8 km from Khonsa, the major town and district headquarter.
 
The glittering backdrop to the beginnings of the Catholic Missions in Arunachal Pradesh goes back to the visit of Fr. Krick to the Adi area, his visit to the Mishmi country, and the martyrdom of Fr. Krick and his companion Fr. Boury, of the Foreign Missions of Paris (MEP) in 1854, at the Somme village, now in Tibet. Since then no missionary work was possible in Arunachal Pradesh till 1977 with the situation and the circumstances existing then.
 
Don Bosco School, Borduria was started in 1992 setting off a new era in the history of the Church in Arunachal. The school was located at Turu Lamchi, about two and a half kilometers from Borduria. There were 83 students in K.G. The boarding had 17 boys. Mr. George Joseph Nedumala and Ms. Martha Kapalome took up the task of teaching and looking after the children of the new school. Fr. Karottupuram Sebastian, Fr. Jerome Minj and Fr. Palliparambil George saw to the pastoral care at Borduria.
 
On 2nd August 1993 the Parish Church at Borduria dedicated to Mary Help of Christians was blessed by Mgr. Thomas Menamparampil sdb in the presence of Mother Teresa and many other dignitaries. On this occasion, Mother Teresa laid the foundation stone of Ahoon Kope, the rehabilitation centre run by the Missionaries of Charity.
 
Today
 
Now Don Bosco School, Borduria has 240 students with 8 teachers. Of the 240 students in the school, 102 are boarders. Students who come to attend the school belongs to the Nocte, Wancho and Lazu tribes. The centre also runs four satellite schools. The Centre provides computer facilities for all the students, even those not studying in Don Bosco School. Young people who come to the parish are provided with recreational facilities. Tuition classes are conducted for students preparing for Class X and Class XII CBSE exams. Both formal and non-formal tailoring centre for girls are being provided by the parish. The Parish looks after the Catholics spread out across 27 villages.
