A four-day-long scouts and guides summer camp was held at Don Bosco High School, Baghchung, Jorhat, Assam from 2-5 July 2008. In all 54 scouts and guides from the school participated in the camp at the school premises.
A one-day Seminar on Minority Status Certificate was organized at Don Bosco Provincial House, Dimapur, on 29 June, for all the Principals and Headmasters of our schools and colleges. Around 40 - 45 participated in the Seminar.
Bosco College of Teacher Education, Dimapur, bagged eleven ranks in Nagaland University, in the recently declared results of the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), final examinations held in December 2007, for the session 2007.
The Pre-novitiate house of the Salesian Province of Dimapur was inaugurated today. It is situated at Amguri in Assam. Don Bosco School existed here along with the parish dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Rinaldi home is a new beginning. Amguri was selected as the location to begin the Pre-novitiate house. There are 15 Pre-novices for the Province of Dimapur. There are also 9 Pre-novices belonging to the Province of Guwahati.
The 3-day meeting of the National Council of the Don Bosco Alumni Association of India, held at the Administrative Training Institute at Kohima, Nagaland, came to a close today. The meeting was inaugurated by Dr. Chumben Murry, Minister for Agriculture of the State of Nagaland and a Don Bosco alumnus. The minister called on the members to ``pay back to Don Bosco for what they received from him by contributing to the society in which they find themselves.``
Around 150 members of the Salesian Family gathered at the Provincial House, Dimapur, today for the celebration of the annual Salesian Family Day. The function began with a solemn Eucharist presided over by Fr James Poonthuruthil SDB, Provincial of Dimapur. It was followed by an animation session on the Strenna of the year as well as the Common Identity and the Common Mission of the Salesian Family by Fr Salew Peter, Provincial Delegate for Salesian Family.
Mr. Rajesh Gupta, Confederal member and President of the Don Bosco Alumni, with Mr. Peter Hunter, from Great Britain, also a confederal member, and nine other members of the National Council of Don Bosco Alumni, India, visited Don Bosco College, Maram on 28 May.
Dimapur, 15th May 2008: Homage to three Salesians - Fr. Raphael Paliakara SDB, Fr. Andreas Kindo SDB and Bro. Shinu Valliparambil SDB on their 7th death anniversary. To mark the occasion a monument is built on the spot where three Salesians were brutally gunned down by unknown assailants. For the Holy Mass, blessing and inauguration of the memorial monument His Grace Most Rev. Dominic Lumon, Archbishop of Imphal, Most Rev. Joseph Mittathany, Archbishop Emeritus, Rev. Fr. Linus Neli, Vicar General, Rev. Fr. Nestor Guria SDB, Vice Provincial of the Salesian Province of Dimapur, a good number of priests, sisters, public leaders, well wishers, Catholic youth and about 300 laity were present.
Runways 2008, a career guidance package for the Classes X and XII, climaxed with an educational tour to Kaziranga National Park, Guwahati and Shillong on 1 May. The programme was held at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Kohima, from 10 - 23 April, with the theme ``In Search of Excellence`` with thirty seven participants
A twenty-day Spoken English Course was held at Don Bosco School, Doom Dooma, organized by Agency for Growth and Upliftment of All (AGUA), from 7 - 27 April
